Tawasul Transport, in collaboration with the Integrated Transport Centre, (Abu Dhabi Mobility) Al-Futtaim Motors (BYD), and supported by Streamax Technology, has announced the launch of an electric taxi service, marking the first initiative to utilize BYD electric vehicles as taxis in the country. This development represents a significant step towards sustainable urban transport and aims to position Abu Dhabi as a leader in environmentally friendly urban mobility.
This partnership seeks to promote the use of clean and sustainable taxis in Abu Dhabi, aligning with the United Arab Emirates’ vision for environmental sustainability. The initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency within Tawasul Transport’s fleet by integrating advanced technologies and utilizing electric power, supported by strategic partner Streamax in coordination with the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility). The plan includes connecting the smart data unit to vehicle data for monitoring, control, and display of operational information on a unified platform.
The introduction of electric taxis is designed to achieve several key environmental, economic, and social objectives:
- Reducing Harmful Emissions: Electric vehicles emit fewer pollutants, improving air quality and reducing environmental impact.
- Enhancing Operational Efficiency: Electric vehicles provide more than just transportation; they offer an integrated system. Enhance operational efficiency, optimize maintenance management, decrease mileage, improve itineraries, and reduce energy consumption.
- Promoting Financial Sustainability: Electric vehicles have lower operating and maintenance costs compared to traditional fuel-powered vehicles, reducing long-term expenses.
- Decreasing Fossil Fuel Dependency: The move to electric taxis decreases reliance on fossil fuels, which are both limited and detrimental to the environment, and instead promote the use of renewable and clean energy.
- Improving Service Quality: Reduced noise and pollution from electric vehicles enhance the user experience and service quality.
- Fostering Innovation and Technology: The transition to electric vehicles drives innovation in green technology and supports research and development in clean transportation solutions particularly in the integration of vehicle systems with operational systems.
